New A1c results

My results are in. 6.6 which is the lowest A1c I've ever had. And, this with many high PP numbers. This new doctor keeps telling me he doesn't care about my PP numbers, he wants my A1c to be a certain number. He says this is high. He wants it consistently in the 5.5 range. I'm thinking that in order to get lower, I will HAVE to watch my PP numbers, no?

At least he is much more aggressive than my first endo who told me that my goal was 7.0. Good news is that the damage previously showing in my kidneys has all but disappeared so things are looking up.

My only real concern at this point is that since I've started the regular insulin, I keep gaining and losing the same 5 pounds even on the Byetta. Did anyone else gain weight with regular insulin?

I too have had kidney damage that disapeared when my control got better. I think if you catch it early, then you have the best chance of it not progressing. I am thankful every day for this.
Insulin is considered to be “lipogenic” - in other words, it helps your body to store calories as fat.
But, if you watch your food intake, you should be fine.
