New Meds

Today I start my new medication - the birth control pill, Yasmin, and Glucophage. The pill will help to regulate my periods, which will in turn help me to regulate my blood sugar. The glucophage is a trial run for a month.

When I spoke to my doctor yesterday, he agreed that my current insulin taking wasn’t working. He noticed all the lows on my logs, and suggested that we give glucophage a trial run. I’m really glad to be changing my medication, particularly as he said that the glucophage wouldn’t cause any hypos. I didn’t take any insulin yesterday, but, like clockwork, I had my midmorning low this morning (more than 24 hours after my last insulin dose). I’m hoping to see the end of them soon!

Well Megan, that make sense,I think you are going to be great, with your will power and descipline your blood glucose is under control. Have a great time.

Well, I feel bad, and I think it’s the Yasmin. I’ve only been on it for 5 days, but I’ve been a zombie for the last 2. I phoned my doc and he said to go off it. I googled the side-effects, and it says that Yasmin causes “carbohydrate intolerance”. If I had known that before I’d started it, I wouldn’t have waited so long to quit it. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!
