I had the same issue. Endo is great. PC doc turned out to be a bad fit for me.
This guy sounds like an arrogant jerk-dump him.
Absolutely! I do the same. Many doctors seem to forget that we patients (and our insurance companies) are paying them. There is never a reason to stick with any physician you don’t “jive” with. When my mom needed breast cancer surgery 7 years ago, she interviewed three separate surgeons. My brother and I make it a practice to grill all medical professionals. It is both a right and a responsibility of all consumers.
You are the best one to treat your diabetes. Blood pressure pills can be used to stave off kidney damage;perhaps it wasn’t a slip. I am 50, type 1 since the age of 22 months and getting my 670G in a month. It is suppoded to be the next best thing to a working pancreas. I have never met a doctorthat does not think he/she knows everything about type 1s.
Keep on doing your best; it is not easy but better than it used to be.
They aren’t all like that. I’ve had 6 endos over the years. I can only think of one that THOUGHT he knew everything, and he turned out to be jerk that told me I was NOT allergic to Beef and Pork insulin. I did research at a local library, concluded that I was right and he was full of it, and found myself another endo, who was great. He rx’d Purified Pork insulin for me and in 2-3 days of getting off of the Beef/Pork, I was back to normal.
ah, not everyone using automode is a fan. Don’t get caught up in the ridiculous marketing.
I had a really clueless Dr. On my 2nd apt he got in my face, LITERALLY, I immediately WALKED-OUT, and never looked back.
DUCKtors are human, many are ARROGANT, wanna-B gods. As you noted, you have not invested much in this DUCKtor, yet, so IMO do not let the door kick you in the rear, on your way out.
Keep in mind, most DUCKtors see few, if any type-1s of any flavor. My being a TYPE-1b is even more rare.
You & ALL your doctors, need to be able to work together as a TEAM, a cohesive team. There needs, as in any positive relationship, MUTUAL respect. I even had an endo that advised me BADly. I simply never went back to him.
There are GOOD DOCTORS out there, some are knowledgeable, some not so, of all flavors. Some times it is just a matter of chemistry between Dr & patient, ie some might be good, but you 2 just do not quite click.
Keep looking, you should eventually find your knight in shinning white coat. When you find your good, maybe not quite perfect, match hang on to him or her.

-1- COMFORTABLE; YOU NEED to be comfortable talking to your doctor/s.
-2- COMPETENT; You need a doctor/s that KNOWS what they are doing, when it comes to you medical needs. Nobody knows everything, about anything, Your PC/fam-doc needs to have good relationships with specialist he can draw on, and refer you to as needed.
I was LUCKY, when I developed an allergy to BEEF-PORK NPH insulin. My endo recognized the same allergy quickly and remedied it, then & there.
In my case, I had more than red spots at injection sites, & huge hives. I had a more systemic reaction. I had no clue what was happening, and carefully (?not?) DROVE myself to the horsepital. I learned afterwards, that had been a very dangerous thing to do.
Back before rDNA insulins, when ya told the nurse you are ALERGIC to an INSULIN, oh the SHOCK, when a diabetic on insulin responds with that.
I also had a systemic reaction. My entire body, including in my eyes, had a creepy prickling sensation. I called the doc from work, which was in a very noisy auto shop area, and he had told me it was because I was hyperventilating, which I wasn’t. Even if I was, there was no way he could have heard that. That’s when I knew he was incompetent. Besides the all-body pricking which began within an hour or two of the injection, for the 1-2 weeks I used that insulin, I’d get immediate burning at the injection site. Being new to diabetes I just thought that must be normal. aaargh! Frickin’ doctor! As soon as I got Purified Pork I had no more reactions of any kind.
My endo back then, mid '80s, Dr House, changed me to BEEF-NPH & PORK-REGULAR insulins. I was not new to diabetes, by then. I took a mix of N+R, w/dose adjusted based on urine sugar levels.
Now how & WHY this combo worked, I do not know, but the important thing is, it WORKED!
I expect a few here have heard the name Dr House, (the hooked on drugs Dr. of TV flame)…
Dr House… (now sit down, & pull up yer depends, B4 U continue reading). He was the best endo I ever had. (opinion). My Dr House, was a REAL doctor, who’s real name actually was Dr House. (Winter Park Florida)
PS: I also have to limit my eating of PORK. I LOVE HAM…HAM…HAM, but if I eat too much, I get the poops & such. As long as I spread out / space, my eating of PORK, I am OK.
Try eating dry cured ham, it’s the salt used in wet curing cheaper hams that’s probably giving you loose motions.
Problem, I would not know a wet cured ham from a dry cured ham. I have not noticed such on a label, but never looked for it anyway.
Solution; What I have been doing, has worked so far. However, I just might look closer at labels, looking for any cured info, if any, just in case.
Thanks for the suggestion.
PS; I am in the U$A (where almost everything is of/for/about $$$$$$$$)
