New Ted Talk on Nutrition from Wendy Pogozelski

I also find that I get angry and upset with institutions and experts that we as patients are encouraged to trust but who fail to demonstrate independent, objective and scientific evidence based approaches. Sadly there is a cadre of people and institutions who have built up major barriers to alternate thinking. And for them to admit that perhaps they are wrong would essentially destroy their careers and their institutions. I suspect this is why the ADA has quietly divested itself of the nutrition debacle. First they spun out the people and nutrition guidelines activity to the AND. And then they started saying “individualized” nutrition plans and not taking a position.

The real challenge is that I feel like I need to engage and talk with the Hope Warshaw’s of the world if we are to make a change. @askmanny was always able to do that, he could talk with anyone to bring them together to collaborate. This is something I have to work on. I’ll be at AADE this year, Hope is the president. I expect I will talk with her as I did at the AADE meeting in 2013. Hopefully it goes better.
