I have a friend at work whos doctor Dx him a diabetic because of one high GTT but he is not on Meds and he has never had A1c higher 5.5 in the last 3yrs. . His last A1c was 5.1 .I told him if I was you ,I would get that check again . It sounds like a misdignoses to me.
Wish I had thse A1c numbers.
Why did they do a oral GTT on him in the first place? When I was first seeing an endo, and still making lots of insulin, the only way you could tell was after a meal with lots of carbs- then I would be high. My fasting was still really good. Sadly, it didn’t last.
It sounds questionable,especially with that number in the A1c test.If it were me I would surely get another opinion.
I asked him that question last night .He said it was part of a routine physical and his family history.
