# of times need to treat highs/lows

How often on average would you say you have to eat extra carbs you weren’t planning on eating in order to prevent or correct a low? How many of these carbs on average?

I’m with Jag1 on this. I steer my BG many times per day with corrections of carb or insulin, which improves my time in range and standard deviation, which I hope is improving my odds of a good healthy life.

I’m on DIY Loop, autobolus mode. I’ve been using it for about 3 years and it has made control possible and a lot easier to achieve. Having said that, i do still treat highs and lows everyday. I might add fake carbs when it looks like I am spiking. I do this typically every morning to prevent FOTF spikes. I could let Loop handle it with an increased basal, but I like to manually monitor my BGs in the morning. I, too, will eat fruit or drink juice to head off lows. These typically occur during exercise or after meal activity like walking.
