OK..Everyone please read!

My endo’s nurse asks for my logbook (and then says, “You have a logbook? Wonderful. People never bring in their logbooks.” Which I find sad.) Of course “logbook” sounds grand. It’s really a crumpled-up piece of notebook paper with wavy dividing lines and a lot of handwritten notes printed sideways 'cause I’m trying to squeeze them in. The fingerstick (she uses a lancing device and a new lancet, but I can’t say I’ve seen her swab down the lancing device–will have to pay attention next time) is used to run the in-office A1C, not a glucose meter test.

My endo has disposable lancets, so they get used once and chucked.

However, I heard a story from a friend who’s going to medical school, and whatever idiot was running their class on diabetes was showing them how to check blood sugar with a meter, passed around a Multiclix, but didn’t tell them to turn the dial to change lancets between people, or to swab down the cap. Bingo! Entire class has to get tested for STDs for six months!
