Both are interesting and good info to have. Wasnât aware of the setting @Eric2 mentions either. Thx so much to both of you! So much to learn since July 1st!! I was able to get ahold of our trainer as we are at the lake now and didnât want to go thru a pod a day - she thinks it might be because the pod was submerged in the water for 2-3 hours. Said the pod is water proof up to 60 minutes, recommend. So we sat out of the water for 15 minutes every 60 minutes. So far, no errors with the pod. (Gingers crossed). Still looking for good water proof patch that stays on for a couple days- but on step at a time. Thx again. Best, Jj
Kind Regards,
Jj
Hm, I know they only officially approve of it for 60 minutes, but I sometimes swim twice a week, sometimes every two weeks, and I always stay in the ocean at least 2 hours and many times three. And I never get that error message. And I stay in the water, itâs submerged the whole time as I am swimming in the ocean a distance from shore. My pod is still giving me insulin at a lower rate and is fully submerged for my 2-3 hour swim, the PDM is left in my car probably a few thousand feet away.
I have the feeling itâs more of her getting out and the pod being in communication with the PDM again that is stopping the shutting off option, than actually just being out of the water per se. Bluetooth just does not communicate when in the water or at a distance. I have no idea if jumping off a dock makes a difference. But that bluetooth connection problem is why I use a LIbre to scan my BG level while swimming. I keep it in a Stash waterproof pouch and scan it underwater while still swimming. So I wear both lol, because the LIbre isnât as good as the Dexcom, so the Libre goes back into my purse as soon as Iâm done. The Dexcom just wonât work staying in the water and giving me a reading.
With my Dexcom, I use Skin Tac and then I also use Skin Tac on the overpatch. That works like a charm, it lasts while swimming longer than the 10 days as I wear mine longer. You might try Skin Tac if you need a stronger adhesive for your Omnipod. When I used it on my Omnipod I had to pry it off of me, you almost have to use a remover.
So maybe what you are doing there (possibly) is causing a communication between the pod and PDM, which would be resetting the Auto-Off counter.
Why not just check and see if you have the Auto-Off feature turned on. At least that tells you if that is whatâs causing the problem.

If it is just the Auto-Off causing the problem that would be great. Then you can disable it and she does not need to sit out of the water every hour. She can have fun swimming as much as she wants. ![]()
@Jj_amp_Bj If it is the auto off, you can turn it off while she swims, and then turn it back on after if you want.

Insulet does refund insulin of up to $25 a year as long as you pay for your insulin, even if you just have a copay for it. After $25 they tell you they want proof you pay for it. They used to make it more difficult calculating how much you used. Now they just seem to ask how much was left in the pod that was wasted. You have to ask for it.
But I have collected every year as I have always had a copay, now itâs only $40 for 3 months, but before Medicare it ranged from $100-$180 every 3 months depending if it was on the current formulary list. So I did always collect on it.

I meant follow up on how the rest of weekend wentâŚwe did get out of the water for 10-15 minutes every 60 minutes (Omnipod is water proof for 60 minutes). This worked well and she was able to get a snack. So no pod failures We used the activity setting, this stopped insulin from be delivered since she was within range and no drop/low afterwards. Appreciate everyoneâs impute! Stay healthy.
Kind Regards,
Jj
Did you check the Auto-Off setting? If she got out of the water every 60 minutes, thatâs just letting the pod reconnect to the PDM and itâs not getting shutoff.
Itâs fine if you want to have her just get out of the water every 60 minutes. But most likely she does not have to if you just check the Auto-Off setting on the PDM.
