In a batch of reservoirs for my minimed paradigm pump, I noticed the reservoirs when attached to the tubing, the reservoir was spinning freely on the tubing connector. Knowing the reservoir usually locks into place, I called minimed and after being on hold for 40+ minutes I was told that, indeed, that was very bad that it wouldnt lock…The woman told me I should check all the reservoirs ( of a new shipment for 3 months worth!!!) and then said “well, I guess you want them to stay sterile so maybe thats not a good choice, Call everytime you get one that is deffective and we will replace it” So after opening 4 reservoirs, I found one that would lock securely with the tubing… And now I have to call them everytime it happens and then get these canisters and ship them back. Its rather annoying and it makes me weary of the products I am using that are so vital to me living. My questions is, has this happened to anyone else?
hi Sami, I have had a few 300 ml reserviors that had a “flukey” stop, so if I were to apply a little pressure, the cap (with the tubing) would spin past the lock/stop. It wasn’t a “free” movement - I could tell where it was supposed to stop, but a little extra torque and it would spin… Since the pump plunger presses the reservior from the bottom, and the cap from the quickset engages the pump thread… I never considered this particular thing a serious issue and just used the reserviors.
Sami: Not me either. Although it is a pain in the posterior, it’s not a good idea to open a whole bunch at a time because you do want to preserve sterile conditions for them. Maybe you should save up to, say 10-20 before you send any in. Or, if you’re not getting THAT many, then wait til close to the end of the 3-month cycle to send all that you have in. The trick is not to run out.
I’ve had trouble with the plunger falling out before I needed it to because it wasn’t screwed in tight enough. Now I just screw it tighter BEFORE I fill them.

wow that is freaky. I use the 300 ML versions and have not had any issues. If anyone knows the lot number etc, can you post it? I would rather know here at home beforeI God forbid travel take a couple with me and have them fail. Thanks for any help and the heads up.

I had one the other day that did the same thing to me. I almost dropped my insulin bottle while filling it. I only had it happen once though. I have the MM 715. I am currently trying to get a Cozmo 1800. I think that it offers more and better features.
haha I was setting up (at 3AM) and the plunger fell while I was knocking out bubbles… it dropped and fell to the floor, went to pick it up and kicked it waaaay under the stove =) now I have a spare plunger in the crap drawer in the kitchen…for just THAT kind of emergency
Yes, Scott, that is a bit dicey! Lois La Rose, Milwaukee, WI
