Pizza? Pasta?

lol… i guess!

lesson there is don’t respond to things via mobile browser, unless you want to say it ten times over!

I would like to know this too…thanks for posting. I have avoided going out for pizza and pasta since being diagnosed, and only know how to calculate things when I am at home. I have never used the combo bolus on my pump, but would also like to know how!

I make homemade pizza with whole wheat pitas and lowER fat cheese. This way, it doesn’t spike me later with all the fatty cheese…

as for pasta…instead of bolusing before my meal, i do it like RIGHT before I take my first bite.

it’s ok, Virtue…we’ve all done it…some of us, several times. BTW…did you create your pic design? It’s a nice one. Best to you… —Anthony

Nah. I found it online. It’s almost me though! Just the blue eyes are brown

I eat pasta at least twice a week and only eat Dreamfield’s pasta, it’s available at most stores like Publix and I think Whole Foods, but it’s got tons of fiber and only has like 7 net carbs(?) and isn’t too bad. If I do eat Dreamfield’s then I extend my bolus only by 30 minutes and I do a 65/35 split. If I eat any other pasta, then I do a 40/60 split over 3 hours and will correct at the 2 hour mark.

This is what I do for pizza- 1-3 slices I will do a 40/60 bolus extend it over 4 hours. Sometimes this works other times it does not. Just depends on the diabetes gods… If for some unknown reason I’m like hella hungry and decide that 3 slices isn’t enough I will go ahead and figure in a correction dose of at least 150 then do my usual 40/60 bolus over 4 hours. This works sometimes too. I’ve gone down to 40 doing this before and then ended up at 300, just depends on if the D-gods are smiling on you that day… good luck I hope you figure out what works for you!

Book I am reading on pumping says to split the dose at 70% at time of eating and 30% later
