Pumping without a CGM?

I pumped for a bit over 12 years with no CGM. I really like the dexcom but yes I have done without and actually it is far more common to pump without a CGM than with one. Case in point Medicare does not pay for CGM’s but will pay for pumps.

My CGM and I, we have an on/off/on again relationship. We hook up whenever I’m trying to adjust to a new environment like coming back to school after vacation or a new training program, that sort of thing. Otherwise I regard it as a luxury. (My endo doesn’t like it much when I wear them all time because I’ll go crazy with corrections, chasing away every hyper into an oblivion of hypos. He won’t prescribe me one so I pay out of pocket and those suckers ain’t cheap.) For the duration of my not wearing one I just get by on regular checks and being vigilant with symptoms. A CGM/pump combo is very powerful but is a bit unsustainable to me at least.
