Well for two years I did very good with diet and exercise. The past few months I fell off the band wagon...really bad. Have a serious famly problem, on my mind 24/7 and did not even think or care what I ate. Get my A1C taken on December 7 and am now scared that will have to go on meds. Think I can get it down before then if I start now??
it happens…diabetes burn out. been there. done that.
the A1C is not the enemy–can you just level with your doc? (S)he would probably understand and hold off on meds fora bit if you really want to control it with diet/exercise.
Don’t beat yourself up. This is life. We falter. fall down. get back up. you’ll be okay.
I too spent years trying to avoid meds. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!
There are bad meds, yes, but there are also good meds that make it much, much easier to maintain control. If you are battling weight, Metformin can be a huge help. If you can’t get safe blood sugars, insulin may save all your favorite organs.
The trick with meds is to do some research and learn which ones would make sense for you. I’ve put together some info about the usual Type 2 meds HERE
