OTTAWA (NEWS1130) - The maker of an injection kit for insulin-dependent diabetics is voluntarily recalling one lot of the product, which is used in emergencies to treat severe low blood sugar reactions.

The kits are used when a person is unconscious and can't consume sugar.

Health Canada says Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. is voluntarily recalling lot YW60462 of the GlucaGen Hypokit. Novo
Nordisk says some of the glass vials that contain glucagon have been
cracked or broken, potentially making the product unusable. There have
been no reports of incidents involving the recalled kits so far.

Two Hypokit lots were recalled in August over a syringe defect.

Health Canada says affected kits should be returned to pharmacy for
replacement. If you have any corners or questions about the product, you
are advised to talk to a physician or pharmacist, or contact Novo
