Self immune response reversed

tonight a new discovery article. what do you think about? http://m.stm.sciencemag.org/content/5/191/191ra82.abstract

Blocking the autoimmune reaction is an impressive accomplishment, but it appears to be done using a specially prepared exogenous proinsulin. (Proinsulin is secreted by the β-cells and subsequently broken into insulin and c-peptide). How you would cause the native β-cells to produce this specially doctored molecule on their own -- or whether it is even possible -- is not clear. To make practical use of this mechanism, one would still need to continually administer exogenous material. So at best it's another potential therapy, albeit an intellectually interesting one.

I love the idea of this…I hope it pans out…even if we’d need to continually dose this daily or weekly, it would still be miles ahead where we are today!
