Shock gone and reality setting in

This week my husband Thomas had a biopsy on a knot inside his neck.

It’s cancer.

He grew up on a farm and often worked in the sun.

The last 10 or so years he has had quite a few skin cancers removed.

About 2 or 3 years ago he had a squamos cell removed from behind his ear. The knot is right below that area. The docs think that some of the Squamos cells remained behind and set up housekeeping in his neck.

Monday he is having surgery to remove the cancer and all of his lymph nodes in his neck area.

Not sure how that will turn out.

He will be in the hospital at least 2 days and maybe even longer.

I have Mon and Tue off and a sub who knows how to work with my students is coming so I won’t have to worry about what’s happening in the classroom.

He’s on the prayer list at work.

Most of my stuff is ready for the sub but there are a few loose ends that I need to take care of so it’s back to work tomorrow to finish those tasks.

My original plan had been to post here daily but often times I’m to tired to get on the computer so I need to revise that goal.

I think Accountability is important but every work day is unrealistic so I will try for 2-3 days a Mon -Fri.

I will probably do a catch up type of post.

On the weekend I will try to make it each day.

Accountability:

Food: I have did well this week but still need to improve.

On days that I eat a good snack I don’t food hunt and munch until and beyond supper.

If I don’t eat a good snack then I food hunt and eat eat eat.

So next week I need to plan a good snack so I can remain in control every day around supper time.

Exercise: I lift a child several times a day. He weighs about 50 lbs so I think I can count that as strength training.

I have walked quite a bit this week.

Never made it to the pool.

Once Thomas is out of the hospital and doesn’t need me to rush home in the evening I’ll try for the pool

Glucose Checks: I did really good!!

I remembered to check and did that 2 to 3 times a day.

My numbers were really good this week.

Water: 64 ozs most days. I think that 60 ozs is a more realistic goal

Thanks to the hernia I fill up fast and feel water logged at 64 ozs unless I’m really really thirsty.
