SSI or SSDI (Social Security Disability)

Again generally speaking receiving disability payments for anything is very difficult. Even with significant disability from blindness it can be a maddening adventure. One applies and you can expect to be denied several times. Generally you have to be unemployed due to disability (ther are exceptions) and you should be prepared to obtain an attorney to argue your case. The attorney is usually paid at least 1/3 of the amount paid by SS for back payment of benefits from the time you apply until the day you are awarded the benefit. This can amount to thousands of dollars. On the other hand without an attorney it is unlikely you would have won. Generally if you are working and can continue it is far superior to continue working.

All you can do is apply, it costs nothing to do it. Most likely you will be turned down but you go after it again. Also age plays a big part in it, if you are young maybe not the older you get to the retirement age they tend to approve it more or at least in my case they did but I do have other issues.
