Starting on insulin

I started on mixard 30 insulin ,Twice a day, four months ago, Although i feel better in myself ( other people have commented at how well i look) my blood sugar levels still seem to be high ranging from 8.7 to 19.0,does anybody else haveor had the same problem and how was the issue resolved.

There’s only really 2 things you can do: Increase your insulin dose, or change to another type of insulin. Both might actually be required to gain better control.
Pre-mixed insulin can keep people alive, but for most a mix doesn’t give good control it’s just better than not taking insulin at all. See if basal and bolus method also known as MDI (multiple daily injections) might be an option for you. Means more pokes but you’ll have more flexibility.
Call your doctor and see what options there is.

Using a bolus (rapid acting insulin before meals) & basal (slow acting insulin to keep BG level between meals & overnight, taken in one or doses) regiment is far more effective. It’s very difficult to keep BG level using mixard.

Your readings of 19 are dangerously high.

The best route to control is lowering carbs & dosing insulin according to meals. Not doing this is shooting in the dark.
