Step One...more to go!

Okay I met with the CDE last week and had a very good meeting. First she re-classed me as a type 1.5 diabetic. Still not sure if that was for real or something in passing. Will ask about that later. We chatted and she looked over my log book with all the blue and yellow stripes. Needless to say she wasn’t happy. First she told me I’ve lost plenty of weight and to stop and then we were going on a short roller coaster ride while we readjust my insulin. Wheeeeeeeee. According t her even though my Hb1Ac is at 6,x my BG is all over the chart and yes I am eligible for a pump. Am I willing to test more than once a day… er yes ! Am I scared of technology ? Nope ! Am I willing to be tethered to something 7/24 ? For freedom… yes ! So lets move on to the next couple of steps… First is to prove I can carb count. If it goes in my mouth count it. How many carbs are in my foot ?? Is that with or without catsup? Yes I’ve done this before but now I’ve got to write it all down and it’s been years ! I honestly think all of us should take a week and do this once a year just for a refresher and for our families sake as well. My nephew is always quite surprised how much he eats. In two weeks take this in to the RD/CDe and show her my logs.
Also in here is find out the cost and what my insurance co-pay will be. That may be the deal breaker…

Don, you will do great on the pump. I hope your ins covers it. Look at it this way: if you don’t like it, you can always go back to shots. But 99% love it, for the flexibility it gives. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you get used to it. oh, I think the foot is carb-free, but I’ll check Calorie King…

Thought today I wouldn’t walk my normal mile or six but my sis drug me out of the house to walk HER dog ! Way to go sis !! So we walked and I had some candy stuffed in my pocket because I had eaten a light breakfast. I’ll learn this whole thing. Tonight will be a BIG challenge. WE ARE GOING OUT TO Chevy’s. Oh well grab my Calorie King book and off I will go. I’ve been so good about my carb count it is getting funny. The other night was junk food night and I didn’t eat enough pizza rolls to make a full serving so… I ate the extras ! That works doesn’t it ? I WAS STILL within my allowance for the meal so …
In the mean time while I wait to meet with Miss Carb Queen, I do research.

Okay had one heck of a dinner last night 110 carbs ! plus 2 Chevy’s Margaritas I know I’m bad. I just had to do it. I had a good day on the 28th and it was a bad day… So I made up for it.
Today I’ve changed my smoothie recipe to make it a bit more better ? Added some yogurt and less protien mix and changed the fruit ratio around. Carbs =52. Not bad !
