Back when the two major types of diabetes were first being distinguished in the 1960s when I was diagnosed type 1 diabetes was often called ‘severe diabetes,’ and I think that that’s accurate if we are comparing which type is worse. With type 1 patients, it’s been found that even a tiny bit of residual insulin production can be decisive in diminishing the rate of dangerous hypoglycemia episodes and complications, so type 2s can imagine how much we would prefer to be type 2s.

I don’t disagree with you, they both can kill you.
But in my opinion the risk of death for T1’s is much imminent. Which is why there are are alarms on monitors.
FYI. T2 here diet and exercise only for 10 plus years also.
