Tandem T:Slim X2 with Dexcom integration

@Hammer - This is a small portable battery we use.
(We have bigger ones for particular situations like camping or times we might not be around easy sources of power.)

I received my replacement pump, and it does indeed have the latest G5 software on it. I put the malfunctioning pump into sleep mode, started the sensor on the pump, within 15-20 minutes I was getting readings from the transmitter. Nice, when things rarely go the way they’re expected to.

@Jason99 - While you have two pumps if you feel like getting crazy, it sure would be interesting to know if two pumps can connect at the same time and both receive cgm data. Purely an academic question with no practical use.

Just interesting. Seen as you have two pumps and I don’t.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t be done. I forgot to put the malfunctioning pump into sleep mode before I started the new sensor session on the new pump. I got the crossed out signal icon on the new pump during the warm up. This was only five minutes into the new session. I was in the middle of getting the old pump ready to be boxed up and shipped off back to Tandem. Once the old pump was disconnected, the new pump started giving me bg readings. This was an exact repeat of what happened with the pump/receiver fiasco last Thursday night after I updated the pump. Wish I had better news for you, or at least a joke or humorous story. I’ve been up all night and I’m reaching that delirious stage. I had to call my Tandem pump trainer to walk me through setting up my new pump, just to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I uploaded my old pump to t:connect just before I started migrating over to the new pump. I thought I would be able to import all my settings from t:connect to the new pump. This is not an option. I’m wondering why?

In terms of the original post and the related FDA approval of the Tandem/Dexcom integration as of August 28, 2017, I am attaching a copy of the Tandem t:slim X2 User Guide that contains the information related to the Dexcom G5 cgm integration.

As you can see in this version of the User Guide, there are now Sections 5 & 6 containing Chapters 18 ~ 27 and covering pages 186 ~ 265 regarding the Dexcom G5 cgm as integrated with the Tandem t:slim X2.

Tandem has recently concluded a clinical trial designed to show the effectiveness of the Tandem Predictive Low Glucose Suspend (PLGS) algorithm.

“Reducing the risk of hypoglycemia has been the most requested feature of automated insulin delivery in our market research, due to the severity of the complications when left untreated. The data from this study supports our mission to improve the lives of people with diabetes through new innovations, such as the t:slim X2 Pump with Basal-IQ technology,” said Kim Blickenstaff, president and CEO of Tandem Diabetes Care. “These results will support a PMA submission that we are on track to submit this quarter, and we continue to prepare for a launch in summer of 2018, pending FDA review and approval.”

Tandem Diabetes Care Applies for Health Canada Medical Device License
The Company plans to launch the pump in Canada in the second half of 2018, subject to regulatory approvals.

The Company anticipates that the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump offered in Canada will be capable of displaying both English and French, offer a 24-hour clock, and will display glucose readings in millimoles per liter (mmol/L).

Unless I misunderstand this (I am not a financial guru), it looks like Dexcom picked up 2.5 millions shares of Tandem last week (Feb 13, 2018) which equates to 5.6% of the 44.6 million Tandem outstanding shares.

One might hypothesis that Dexcom has reason to believe their money is not being wasted.

I specifically mention this as the financial health of the company, Tandem Diabetes, is often times mentioned as a consideration when deciding whether or not to switch to the Tandem t:slim X2 pump.

At this point in time, I am feeling very good with our decision to switch from the Animas Ping to the Tandem t:slim X2 and am very eagerly anticipating the approval and release of the Tandem Predictive Low Glucose Suspend (PLGS) algorithm update this summer.
