Test a Friend: As Ranks of Undiagnosed Diabetics Soars, Group Urges Action

134 is not a normal fasting number for a non-diabetic! It might not be a bad idea if your husband gotten an A1C or an OGTT based on that fasting number. 100-125 is considered pre-diabetic, and 126 fasting is considered a diabetic reading.

all he really had was a little creamer/milk in his coffee, as did I.

Julie,

Agree with Zoe that 134 is not a normal, non-diabetic reading. There are many who believe ADA standards are too lax.

Julie I like to suggest as well, simelar to others , to have Hubby’s number checked with a fasting plasma glucose test ( lab blood test ; here in my province has to be ordered by GP; possibly where you are as well ) …even if the meter is out( over ) by 20 percent .
You may want to read up on Igal 's other discusssion titled A1C Bloodtest OK for Diabetes Diagnosis-Do you know your A1C ?

last one was 6.7 about 5 months ago

Julie ,I assume you are relating to your A1C , not your husband’s ??

yes, sorry.

Thanks, Zoe. I’ve tested friends & changed the lancet before & after (even though I rarely change lancets for myself), but never thought of blood being on the meter itself.
