This tingling is driving me INSANE

Since Thursday I have had this off and on tingling in my fingertips. I don’t know why it started but it causes me to have these horrible panic attacks…and after reading WebMD tingling fingertips are also caused from having panic attacks…so I’m just curious if this is s problem for anyone else? I’ve been diabetic for 11 years now…as of next week…and I know I haven’t taken care of myself as well as I could/should have…so…who knows…I’m going to the doctor next week…but if this happens to you, how do you deal with it and do you have any advice or tricks on stopping it?

panic attacks and i go hand in hand, except i feel tingling EVERYWHERE haha; various people can get the tingling in different places, i often get it in my head, face etc. i would say its anxiety induced, but get it checked out just in case

Well, this is my 2nd attempt. I keep pressing some sort of weird key on my keyboard and losing everything. It’s probably floating somewhere in the internet.

Welcome to the world of weird! The tingling started out for me in the feet. Typical sign of diabetic complications. I also have experienced it in the hands, but I also have had carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands. My ex-friend experiences it in her hands every time she puts on weight. She is a hair dress and is, therefore, prone to repetitive motion like I am. I had a job vey heavy into keyboarding. The doctor’s simple solution is to lose weight! My advice, though, is DO NOT BORROW TROUBLE! You don’t know and, sometimes, I think the internet only serves to scare and confuse people. Whatever it is, it is not fatal … just aggravating!!

My pain, tingling, fire, stabbing pain is in the feet. It started with a vengeance after my disastrous health “accident” in '03. It used to get so bad that I couldn’t sleep. Just as I was dozing, it would attack. But with the advent of Celebrex and then Lyrica, it seems to be much more tolerable.

So, if you find it is connected to diabetes, there is help. But, my advice … DO NOT BORROW TROUBLE. Don’t anticipate what it MAY be, just concentrate on seeing the DR and letting him determine. I really never heard about panic attacks causing tingling, just some impingement on nerves. Wait for your DR to find out what’s going on. It will only drive you batty to try to diagnose yourself.

I’m glad you’re going to the DR with this. Keep the faith and pray for the least …

Try massaging and exercise hands, fingers, arms until you get to the doc.

Ask about Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I have it and it causes tingling in the fingertips. Worth asking about.

I don’t have the tingling in my fingertips, but I have it in my feet and toes, along with bad pain and cramping and numbness and shooting nerve pain. All of it is called diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Its because my blood sugars have been out of whack for so long and now my body is showing me that I should have taken care of it better. The tingling and numbness is how it started for me and just got worse. Its something you want to talk to your doctor about. There are ways you can stop its advancement besides keeping your blood sugars in check. I’m on Trammadol (or Ultram) three times a day and 1800 to 2400 mg of Gabapentin a day. I also have a rescue dosage of Lortab that I get.

Hi Seraphim,
i have had some peripheral neuropathy in my feet and lower legs for about 4 years… it’s a tingling/numbness, sometimes sharp pain that lingers there, and only feels better when my bloodsugar is normal, ( i struggle with highs)
The fingertips sometimes do that to me too… usually when my numbers are really high. try just some fast-paced exercise & swinging your arms… making sure your numbers are ok ? i hope that helps !

I have a dumb question.

How is your back/neck. Could be a pinched nerve, in which case a chiropractor goes from quack to God. 8^)
Have your Doc check it out, in the meantime the tingling might be maddening but relax, things will work out.
