Transition

With the transition, the alternate FU forum will still be available, I suppose.

A lot of members move back and fourth between the two. I hope that I still see you all around town.

Will the tu forum still exists so we can look back on older posts?

If anybody needs to reach me, my name is Heather Mortensen - PO Box 964 Anoka, MN 55303.

You can find me on linkedIn here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mortensenheather/
This is me:

I have a FU account with the same name and photo.

Lets explore their new forum a little…

Here is the link: https://community.beyondtype1.org/spaces/9348841/feed

To make a new post,

go to Home (left hand menu) → click the Post button.

Message Someone

If you are trying to find someone (and instant message them), you will need their real name in order to search for them.

Click the icon highlighted in red (upper right hand corner of the screen).

You won’t initially see any option to message anyone, unless you type some random letters into the search bar.

Once you type something into the search bar, you will see an option to “Start a New Chat”. You can click it.

If I want to message Linda de Laveaga Withrow, I type “Linda” into the search. Typing more than one word doesn’t narrow the search. You just have to scroll thru the list.

Once I’ve found her, I just click the checkbox next to her name and I can message her.

Post a Comment

I don’t think that you can post a comment on your own post until someone else does.

Some long term users say the website is tricky to use.

Comments are small and appear on the right hand side of the original post. Don’t try to post detailed images because they won’t be viewable. I would stick to text.

Oops, I joined the Beyond Type 1 without finding a way to use my typical screen name (@John58)… over there my name is J. Z.

I lost my typical screen name too. It pulled my real name out of my google account.

We already have one member suspended on FU for writing something uncomplimentary about G7. I thought no one could get suspended over there. I thought that was where we sent our trouble makers.

There’s some introductions here on FU.

Terry4 has received a huge promotion to the screen name Terry.

Hey, it’s me!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart:

I’m asking El_Ver if we need to be careful about our writing over at FU. He’s been over there for some years now. I worried he might have died in a low blood sugar driving accident because he’s the only professional diabetic driver I know. He was just over at FU.

Hahaha that IS a huge promotion!!

Ugh. I cannot find you. Too many Js…

Thank you!!

I’ll try to track different screen names if you all drop the info into the chat.

Wait, so you can’t share frustrations or dislike of products there?

I think I need to look into all this a bit because I didn’t realize this place was shutting down. i saw an email or whatever, but only skimmed as I didn’t have time to read the whole thing :upside_down_face:

Everything is OK. I spoke with them. She’s back in good graces.

No, you can share whatever you want on FUD. Be as open as you want if a product sucks.

I think the issue that was flagged was because it was a first-time post and they put in a link to another site on their first post.

EDIT:
You can share links, but I think you need to have a few posts and some time before that is allowed. I don’t know the exact rules, but it is nothing over-the-top.

That user was suspended for continually plugging a web vendor’s products into his/her posts, something we discourage on FUD. We very much encourage comments about users’ experiences with products, vendors, etc.

@SophieCat
Do I know you from FUD?!?

I mean…are you a “lady” who likes “cats” over there?!?
:joy:

It was their first post. We believe it was from posting a link in the first post made. Try not to do that when we all flood over there, I guess. They say make a few posts before including a link.

I clarified, or not, the age restriction:

While we encourage participation from everyone, we ask that you DO NOT join this community if you are under the age of 13.

I don’t think you can have seen my FUD comments, but, summarised, the MightyNetworks restriction is on the “age of majority”. Technically it trumps the individual Mighty network; we shall see.

Still working through their admission forms

This shows how we can access old TUD posts using Wayback machine so we don’t all feel so bad.

Here’s the relevant link:

Here’s a list, well, just the first few entries, of what it has captured:

Wayback Machine*

Bear in mind that it is heavily used and only slightly funded. There is a curious button bearing the legend “DONATE” and there are a lot of entities out there who wish they could rewrite history but can’t because someone recorded it. Sort of like “shooting the messenger” but it is far more effective to “shoot the librarian”.
