Two Pumps Anyone?

Currently I use a Minimed 522 with CGM and have 2 years left on the warranty. I really like my Minimed and it has done a wonderful job thus far. However I just had a Omnipod sample kit sent to me because I am starting to think that I would like to get my infusion set off my mid section and onto my arms, upper back or any other place that a wireless pump may work. At the same time I would still like to use my Minimed when I want to use the CGM feature (obviously only 1 pump at a time!!!). There are many times when it is very useful.
I am sure that I could use a longer tube length to achieve the same results as an Omnipod but I really don’t want 42 inches of tubing snaked all over my body. If Medtronic would get their act together I would just wait for them to develop their own pod version and I have heard rumors that they are doing just that, but who knows how long that could be if ever. I also love gadgets and I have mastered my Minimed and CGMS system and would really like to try the Omnipod.
My Endo will write the letter of necessity it just comes down to convincing the insurance company to pay for it!!

Has anyone switched pumps mid warranty, maybe even because their original pump choice wasn’t perfect or for any other reason?

Really interested in your opinions–Dave

I saw someone post recently about getting two pumps approved at once…

Here is a related discussion started recently in the “Pumping Our Insulin” group. Though that’s more about what to do with out of warranty pumps.
