Type 1 and sweet potatoes

I've being shuffling around my diet, so i can find whats best for a t1 diabetic. Alot of research i've read says that sweet potatoes are really good for diabetics, and after testing it out with different recipes ive come to really enjoy them. But i've found once or twice after eating them with a meal, that my blood sugars drop radically. For instance my last meal was lamb chops, boiled mixed veg and sweet potato chips. A couple of hours later my blood sugars were 2.5. Is eating sweet potatoes as a carb a good idea, or am I just reacting badly from it.

I thought sweet potatoes were better than white potatoes. Maybe you just bolused wrong for them?
