United HealthCare and Omnipod

Well I've given up the fight, but I have filed a grievance with the Board of Insurance. There are things that happened that have left me with the belief that UHC determined this before they made any effort to find out the facts. Instead I've opted for a more conventional pump and given Insulet feedback about the need to fix the belief among insurance companies that this is disposable.

This is for sure not the issue. I am doc and I am dealing with tons of pump and cgm applications. I got my first UHC denial, with the reasoning that this is more expensive that other insulin pump.
I talked to Omnipod rep, they are aware of the issue and working on clarifying.
I am planning on writing appeal if this will not work, as the cost is the same over 4 years period, less upfront and more monthly.
In the past, I never had this issue and with UHC. No idea what went wrong, suspect someone has no idea what they are doing. Sad
