Victoza for Type 1

update…May 2025…so after much whining about having to inject Victoza EVERY day they allowed me to get the once a week Ozempic. i am still reading about it and will probably start it tomorrow. SO difficult to add something new to the ol’ regime. maybe i SHOULDN’T be reading about it and just dive in. sometimes other people’s negative stories/reading the possible side effects are not helpful…

The internet can be a dangerous place! Haha. I’ve been on Ozempic for awhile now, and have had zero side effects. If you’ve been ok with Victoza, I’d hope you are ok with Ozempic too! Good luck!

thank you Allison for the positive note. no, i only did Vistoza for one day.
but starting anything like this is still scary and i have yet to take the first
shot of ozempic. i have been trying to find info on starting at an even lower dose and working my way up to that first .25 but find nothing…

It really seems like most people are ok, and then the few people who aren’t are very vocal about it.

With these meds, you have to take enough hit the therapeutic dose - so if you just start with a little bit, it won’t be enough to have any kind of effect on you, so you really need to do the dose you are given. I say just go for it! It is a great med.

Thank you Allison! Your words got through…I will start tomorrow…

Keep us posted!

I was on Invokana years ago, and it worked really well for me. However, they took me off of it because I had some sort of reaction. They weren’t 100% sure if it was the Invokana or something else, so they erred on the side of being conservative.

My endo just started me on one of the newer drugs recently, Zepbound. It’s going well even if it’s scary sometimes because it dropped my insulin resistance fairly quickly. I sometimes forget like last night when I ate some gummy bears, bolused, and realized that I’d taken too much insulin. It was a long night. I’ll have to reset my bolus settings again too.

I’d look into the research. I’d do what you’re doing now, ask others. Remember that you can stop using it too. Whatever you decide, good luck.
