Vitrectomy on high myopia eye

Hello,

I had bleeding in vitreous 3 months ago in my last week of pregnancy. Now my retina doctor is suggesting to do a vitrectomy because I bleeded pretty a lot and blood is not absorbing how he expects. He says that coagulated blood is becoming toxic to retina. Since I have high myopia (-7.5) I’m afraid of retina detachmnet. I wanted to ask if someone has vitrectomy on high myopia eye and there were any complications?

Thanks for your reply

Hi @Gulnara !

I realise your post was a few years ago. I hope you are doing well now!

I hope you don’t mind me asking but I was just wondering how your procedure went? I’m considering a second pregnancy and I have a lot of damage to my eyes from the first. I am convinced there is so much that can be done, although it’s always risky. I may end up in a similar situation if we go ahead with baby 2.

I guess I’m just wondering how you are doing now?

Thank you :relaxed:

Hello.

I had pre crvo and bleeding during the 1st pregnancy. We did many check ups as we wanna go for the second pregnancy. My big concern was if I will get again crvo( first time it’s reabsorbed by itself) after all check ups with different doctors we decided we will have only one child. It is very painful. I still need time to accept the situation, but I’m very scary that if after second pregnancy I will have crvo it will destroy my life…( there is no cure and crvo can lead to blindness with time) may i ask you what u had during the first pregnancy?

Btw I did vitrectomy and got lamellar macula hole so I don’t see so well in my left eye…
