What do Diabetics and Canadians have in common?

Low levels of Vitamin D?

“Findings published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition indicate that 25 percent of the 5,306 participants of the Canadian Health Measures Survey had blood levels below the RDA of 50 nanomoles per liter.”

Actually, what are the numbers for diabetics versus the general population? I imagine it’s a fair bit higher than 25% of diabetics.

Oh, and the title is definitely tongue in cheek. I imagine that Americans don’t fare much better when it comes to vitamin D insufficiency.

10% in Canada are diabetics so vit D is only part of the story maybe. It is bleaker in Canada than is many parts of the US even in our sole city with banana plants they do get any sun for 6 months.
