In that sense acceptance of responsibility is a nice and positive way of living with diabetes I think.
Well the big IF in my friend Gerry’s hypothesis is that there is a genetic component of which I don’t think is proven to date. Maybe there is more genetic component to type 2 since my brother had it and a friend is per-diabetic and she has 2 brothers with full fledged disease. Then again my fathers brothers and sisters I met and none had diabetes my mother was a lone child so it is hard to tell. As a chem Eng I strongly suspect the million man made chemicals we have released into nature since ww1 has something to do with the increase. I am also not sure if am a type 2 or a slow onset type 1 with a 2 year honeymoon. Loosing weight and hours of exercise did not prevent me from becoming insulin dependent. A metformin nor avandia did anything whatsoever to lower either the average B G nor the standard deviation. But my Endo is sure i am type 2 because of a big tummy. The fact that metformin nor avandia did nothing does not seem to register in his mind because it is already made up. Sorry for the long herrange but it illustrates melitta point that type 1 can occur later and many type 2 are in fact more like slow onset type 1.
