I don’t think the average Joe knows how much malfeasance/manipulation takes place in medicine. I think that is a really challenging concept to communicate about, but you have got me thinking. Our inside jokes might be tough for outsiders.
Lately, I feel like the nature of disability, for me, has nothing to do with the actual illness. It has everything to do with the cost/time/energy required to manage the system established to manage the illness.

Maybe compare living with diabetes as a work of art, or sculpture that has evolved through the decades.
Has Medtronics HQ in Minn had an impact on art/statues/etc to relate to diabetes impact ??
