Your best advice for a new insulin user

What would you like for someone just starting insulin to know, what is your best advice.

My best advice....Take a deep breath, you will be OK. Don't beat yourself up you have not failed, insulin is a powerful tool that will help you to win.

Ahmen and thank you Gary. This 30 year plus type 2 who struggled thru the oral pills
and now on insulin deeply thanks you for excellent supportive comments.

Best wishes and good health.

Make basal changes in very small amounts, and not more often than every other day. Evaluate each change to see if it is an improvement or not.

Good advice Lloyd, Here's another. Learn to count carbs, Even if you are doing basal insulin(Long acting) only. It will help you to know what raises your BG and what works for keeping it low. It's not that difficult. all you need is a carb counting phone app or computer program or carb counting book. Knowing the number of carbs in a meal will explain why that certain food sent you thru the roof.

Yes! I counted carbs the 12 years I was on oral medications. It made the transition to insulin that much easier.
