Hello All!
I have been a Type 1 Diabetic for over 25 years - diagnosed at age 4. I have an incredible Mom who kept me alive! and even forced disgusting vitamin smoothies down me, made me exercise and gradually taught me to take care if myself - graduating to self dosing and injecting and remembering to take my vitamins all by myself by the time I was 12. My health was not bad during my teens, but then I just hit a bit of a personal crisis in my early 20s. Because I was feeling so awful much of the time, I started doing personal health research like it was my college major. I discovered Nurishing Traditions, John Manley’s blog - Diabetic Darma, cod liver oil, a blog I’ve forgotten the name of now about the importance of high metabolism foods, and the amazing feeling of going to the doctors and having them rave about my numbers. And also, taking myself off of Metformin and Avandia/Actos- and seeing my BGs improve even more!
I got a pump and cgm in October of 2018.
That brought my numbers from consistent low-mid 6s down to the 5s. Low to mid?
I am now married, (for almost a year), and expecting my first baby in October 2019.
I want to do this as naturally and intervention-free as possible. If you have any advise for me, I’ll listen.
