Blindsided by this diagnosis, with no family history, active my entire life, eaten 3 squares a day and healthier than most folks I know I consider myself a closet nutritionist. I am now on a quest to adapt and successfully navigate this new found carbohydrate intolerance. As a foodie and father of 4 young children this hasn't been simple, but there is nothing more important to me. My screen name comes from a vow I made to my wife and four children "Will this change me, sure it will. But just you watch while I kick Diabetes ■■■" ODAAT = one day at a time.
A1c from 12.2 in April of 2016 down to 5.9 in September, no insulin or metformin since July. So far so with the Diet and Exercise piece, but boy does it take discipline!
Please reach out to me with questions or advice. I am one of those eternal learners and someone who feels like there is usually a better way, you just need to keep searching for it.
