Dignosed T2 in 1999.
Controlled by diet and exercise til 2007. Oral meds with marginal success, but, had to severely low carb/exercise to maintain numbers.
Nov. 2015 oral meds cease working at all. Had to beg doctor for insulin. Awaiting Endo appt in May 2016 to confirm LADA. I have Lupus and Hashimato’s. LADA fits better than T2 these days.
In the meantime, doc told me to stop all insulin because he is afraid of hypo’s. Guess my soaring into the 300’s with active Lupus is okie-dokey!
After reading the two bible’s of insulin use (we all know what those two are) I’ve just about dialed in my basal/bolus that will allow me to function somewhat normally until my appt. in May. Sadly, I need such micro doses it’s struggle too not go low or soar too high.
June 2016: New Endo is most likely a keeper. He’s very progressive and let’s patients manage their diabetes. He ran GADS and antibody panels. My results showed I’m right on the lowest value on all the test. He didn’t run a C-peptide but he’s pretty sure I’m a Type 1-just no antibodies. For now. He also thinks the immuno suppressants i take for Lupus could be skewing things. They could show up later or never. Regardless, I still have weak insulin production, I’m still overly sensitive to injected insulin and oral meds still don’t work.

Blessed be to everyone that’s touched by this disease in whatever type it takes…
