I am retired and live with my wonderful partner and husband. We have 5 children, 5 grandchildren, 2 dogs, and a cat. We love to travel - which is good - because before the pandemic hit my husband traveled for work 40% of the time. We’ve gotten to visit many wonderful places, both here in the USA and abroad. We love to birdwatch, too. I’m a voracious reader, a sometime poet, and I crochet and knit. I was diagnosed in July of 2020 but had really been waiting on it for 20 years. My father died from complications of diabetes, as did his mom, and many people in that branch of my family. I am proud that I was able to delay that diagnosis 15 years past my dad’s age when he was diagnosed. I have started a very low carb diet (the ADA diet was NOT working for me), and have already been able to cut my Metformin in half, and my average blood glucose has dropped 40 points, and I’ve lost 12 pounds. My goal now is to ward off insulin as long as possible and stay as healthy as possible.
