Diagnosed at age 14. Started on vial-and-syringe R and N, at some point went to Humalog and Lantus still vial-and-syringe, and today I've been on Medtronic pumps for about 11 years.

At 25, Diabetic retinopathy hit both eyes at once. I spent 4 months basically totally blind. Over a ten month time frame, I had two vitrectomies (one per eye), spent a grand total of 11 post-op weeks flat on my face 24/7, had a lens re-implant and a capsulectomy. Today one eye is blind and shrunken with a prosthetic that I wear in front of it, but the other is 20/30 with my glasses.
