Hi! I am 67 years old, and 51 of those years I’ve had type 1 diabetes. Surprises me every day to be alive still, given what doctors told me back when I was diagnosed… I live with my husband on a mountainside in northern Idaho, near Canada where we grow much of our food, heat with wood (husband is an Arborist) and enjoy our two basset hounds.
I use an insulin pump with which I manage to keep my A1C in the mid 6 range. But most of my life my control was poor, so I do deal with some complications. Diabetes is a truly tough card to draw, but given that it is in my hand, I feel pretty dang lucky!
