Disgnosed in 2006 as Type 2. Identified in a routine physical at work. Felt OK, except for low blood sugar after eating sweets. My Dr. at the time just said to have a hard candy if I felt faint! Fortunately after the "official" diagnosis, I saw an Endocrinologist and Diabetes Educator who put me on the right track re: diet, exercise and medication. Started insulin 5 years later after losing too much weight with the diet and exercise regimen and to allow more variety in my diet. Have been using insulin for 5 years. Levemir and Humalog. Just began using a CGM - Dexcom G5 after taking prednisone and experiencing unpredictable highs. Looking forward to having more control again.
