I am a physician (Pediatric Pulmonologist). I was diagnosed at age 60 (2016) approximately 3 months after completing a series of infusions with Opdivo, a targeted chemotherapy agent used for melanoma in transit in my case. I developed multiple autoimmune disorders, type 1 diabetes being one of them. Before diagnosis, suddenly, I was very thirsty, lost 15#, had blurred vision, and could not stop urinating. I went into DKA within a week of onset of symptoms and landed in ER and then ICU. My diabetes is well controlled now with Tandem pump and Dexcom CGM. I never regained the weight I lost.
