Here’s a little about me and mine… My Story is pretty average. I grew up in Québec, then my teen years in Northern Ontario. I’m the eldest of 5. My family is paramount. I met my husband in Toronto, where he was born and raised. We’ve been married since 1979 (in Toronto), and moved to Southwestern Ontario the same year. We have 2 grown children. Our daughter has a little boy, and our son has 3…little boys! I love our little grandsons to bits. I was a Graphic Designer & Illustrator (still do some). I now teach (my second career) French and a component of English. I love the ocean, thunder storms, Christmas, Spring when everything is growing, the colours turquoise, pink and mauve…white wine, Brie, dark chocolate, seafood, date squares…daisies, lilacs, amethysts…the ruggedness of rocks. I adore cats, love dogs. I like a good game of scrabble, cycling, hiking, downhill skiing. I paint with water colours, and pen & ink. Enjoy calligraphy, and I restore old window frames by staining them in interesting hues and adding designs etc…then they hang on a wall!!! I’m into an eclectic array of music, spanning folk, Celt, Gregorian, Vivaldi, Mozart, Beethoven…LOVE Andrea Bocelli. I gobble up books. Impressionist art is pretty much my favourite. I hate cigarette smoke(asthma), beer, strong perfumes, fake accents, my glasses and I would have preferred blue eyes…but hey! As for the diabetes part, I had it long before it was officially dx in 2006 (believe me…it’s been a struggle!!), type 2 & prone to lows. My husband has diabetes also…so meal prep is rather easy. I was a Regional Chair with the Canadian Diabetes Association for a while and facilitated a diabetes support group (under the umbrella of the CDA)…did that for 16 years. Neither of our children have diabetes, but our daughter has hypoglycemia. One of my brothers has diabetes, as did my father and his mother, and siblings of my mother. A nice mix of Type 2 and 1!
