Well, I have been logging all of my numbers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Taking oral glimipiride, NovoLog 3 times a day on a sliding scale, Lantus 72 units once a day, plus dear old lizard spit Byetta 10 twice a day. Boy does that Byetta make me sick.

Wow, you are on a whole barrage of medications. I am a insulin dependent T2 and after I started insulin I found I was able to control my blood sugar and drop most all other diabetes meds (except metformin). Have you thought about starting an intensive insulin regime? That involves counting carbs at meals (I eat very low carb) and then taking enough insulin to cover the carbs. Basically you are already taking multiple insulin injection. It could only help.

Like Brian said "Wow" Thats a lot of meds. I was on lots of oral meds and the lizard stuff also but when I started insulin metformin was the only other med I took and after I started on MDI I stopped that also.

MDI using long acting basal insulin (Lantus, Levemir) and short acting bolus insulin (Novolog, Humalog) at meals would probally be a good choice. It does required the testing and carb counting that Brian mentioned but it's worth it.

The only reason I can see for continuing Byetta would be for the weight loss that it can bring. Usually this weight loss effect is short lived anyway, that's the reason I stopped it.
