A new insulin to try out

Went to the endo yesterday and my numbers are looking better, but we still changed up some things on my pump and he gave me some Apidra to try…never used it so I was wondering if anyone else has any feedback on it…please let me know (good or bad)! thanks!

I know, it comes in phases! I am good, just working on my numbers and trying to get everything back under control! Hopefully, my A1C will be a ton better when I get it done in July!

Apidra in wonderful for some–not so much for me–numbers were no worse, but no better either.

I’ve been on Apidra for a few months now. It starts working faster and gets out of your system faster on boluses. It seems to finish in about 3 hrs for me. Novalog would tail off for and extra hour or two after that. I like it alot

Humalog worked well for me and then because of insurance I changed to Novolog which has also worked well. I am a CDE so get to try new things. Apidra is supposed to work even more rapidly than Humalog and Novolog but for me it was much slower and I even had to increase my basal rates while on Apidra. Didn’t even finish the vial and went back to Novolog that works much better for me. I am so glad we all have choices because each one of us is different and may need something else. It’s always worth trying to see if it may help more than what you are currently using.

I use apidra and love it, My A1C went from 9.1 to 6.0 in 3 months and I give alot of credit to Apidra and starting a pump. I love it. I think it works super fast. If my blood sugar is in the 70 - 80 and I give a shot before eating I will get LOW before my food has time to kick in… Good Luck

Apidra also works super great here. I think it just kicks in faster and it seems to work well for the ones that have issues with Novolog and Humalog. I have absorption trouble so the speed works well.
