You and me and thousands of others I’m quite sure. It’s the old thing where they have to say what they have to say even though we all know we don’t do things that way.
I don’t need a site-change alarm as such but I do rely on the Low Reservoir alert. Hope that’s still in place. I really need to be able to set the timing for that alert however I want. For some reason these darn things ALWAYS want to go off at 3 a.m. no matter how you set it, but I’ve found 12 hours ahead gives me enough warning to change it out before bedtime or let it go until morning, depending.
I believe the user manual is online–guess it’s time to go hunt that down.
I have been using the 630G system for several months now and am very disappointed. You have alerts all the time and it keeps me awake at night and goes off during the day at work. High or low. The most annoying sounds and vibrations that can’t be silenced. I have been told that there is a way to silence it but the Minimed Rep never showed me how and never sent me a link to fix this problem. The sensor gives false reading and communicates with a 2.4 Bayer meter. They give you one when you get your pump but setting it up for use with your Carelink is virtually impossible and takes several tries. The sensors give false readings, and I have had to increase my insulin dose to 25% more then I usually take just to maintain levels I had before getting this pump. Also the readings on the meter recently said 55 so I ate carbs and juice (my usual amount to raise my BS). I calibrated and found myself at 555. It went off all night keeping my wife up and really making me miss my old ways. It took me over 8 hours to go from 555 to 120. I also find the link to getting info on my phone does not work. I paid $99 for this connect link so I could have shared my results with my wife. The Dexcom was so much more user friendly and I have yet to get the Minimed Connect working and you have to remain w/i feet of the transmitter for it to work. The Dexcom system works on bluetooth and is a much better system. I am about fed up with the 630G system as it has raised my A1C to over 25% more then it was when i started this therapy and the only reason I am still with it, is because I want to try the 670G system out soon. I hear they have done nothing on the alarms and I’m very disappointed in that part of the system as I work in a quiet environment and can’t have the annoying bells and whistles go off all day long.
The 630g won’t communicate with a phone. The connect feature only works with the 530g. You can change the alarm settings and change to buzz when you’re at work.
You might try calling pump support for help getting the alarms settings to your liking.
How do you get to that screen? I should not be so hard on Medtronics. My A1c went down 0.3 points since getting this pump. I just wish it was more user friendly and not so demanding.
I get this, but it still bugs me, all this required personal data “sharing” that is now ubiquitous. If you use Dexcom’s cloud service (meaning if you use an iPhone), they acquire and use all your data without paying you a cent, so I guess getting a rebate from Medtronic is a step in the right direction. At my questionnaire billing rate, I’d expect it to take no longer than 10 minutes
I have the same basic objection but when I think about it, I’m less upset. Dexcom will use the data to improve their product. I will almost certainly be a beneficiary of that improved product.
The Dexcom CGM has been one of the top five or six treatment breakthroughs in my 33 years with D. I’m also grateful for their willingness to make a seven-day sensor that usually lasts much longer without technically blocking our ability to do that. I question the motives of most corporations but I have a soft spot in my heart for Dexcom.

Might I suggest you schedule an hour with a good CDE that knows the 630G pump? I think ALL of your problems could be worked out easily to your satisfaction.
630G alarm levels are adjustable. Take it from a hard of hearing old geezer that found this new system to be a world better than the older 530G alarm levels. I also like that each alarm has characteristic tone cycles that identify which alarm is being triggered. Very handy when your otherwise occupied.
