At what point do you change your sensor?

rarely let it go more than a half a day of inaccurate readings, or at more two periods of ???s of nearly any length

i have absolutely no patience w/ wild inaccuracies, direction arrows missing, and especially the ???. after that, i just pull the darn thing off and start again.
