I went to the sensor training class yesterday. I read all the material about Enlite, and used the resources my fellow Tu members provided with video and tips. I was ready! Got the sensor inserted correctly, started it up and did my first calibration at 4:32 pm at 97. Second cal at 8:45 at 112. Nice stable BG. Off to a great start!
I had 21 alarms for low bg overnight and very little sleep. Meter BGs were fine and fairly stable overnight. 11:28 102; 3:57 135; 6:50 127. Sensor was off. First low alarm around 11:30 said I was 70, but I tested at 102. It just got worse and worse all night. The sensor readings got into the high 40, when I was actually 127.
I checked ISIGs at certain points during the night and they ranged from 9.32 to 16.88. It started going up at 8:15 rising above 70 finally and surging to a meter test of 169; sensor read 127 at 9:15. ISIG is 36.56.
I did not turn it off as I have read that the first 24 hours are usually rocky, so I want to go 24 hours before.
The sensor is still on and in place and looks just like it did when I left training yesterday.
I am hanging in there and did email the CDE who gave the class. Just tired and frustrated, so I am reaching out to my dear friends at Tu. I don’t think there is much advice to give…But if you think of anything, please let me know.
Sue, sorry to hear it didn’t start out better for you.
An ISIG of 9.32 is unexpectedly (for me) low for a new sensor and a “norma” (~100 ?) BG. The ISIG of 36.56 for SG 127 is more what I would expect. I am wondering what the ISIGs were when you calibrated.
I would wonder if the sensor probe was somehow kinked and then later straightened out? Where did you insert? How “secure” is the overtape?
ISIG of roughly 20 is good for a bg of 100. RIght now I am “fighting” a sensor that has unusually high ISIG’s so it keeps reading too high. BG is 90 now and my ISIG is 38. that is WAY off and has been happening for over 2 days. Mostly i have trouble with ISIGS being too low.
The first 36 hours can give pretty flaky results and then the sensor may work well for the next 4-8 days. I leave good sensors in until they go bad which is usually on the 12th day.
Things have calmed down a bit this morning. Currently reading 131, with an ISIG of 31.32 and a meter reading of 141. Sensor looks exactly the way it did when I left the training. Placement is center of abdomen.
we are all different. I cant get good results if I’m within about 6-8 inches of my belly button. I have to place the sensor almost on the side, just above the belt line. I have not yet tried an arm or any other location.
