Basal

ok ill wait 2 more days doing what i'm doing and see how it goes. thanks

sucks I knew it was going to mess my morning up. I had changed my ratio to 1:13 for novolog yesterday since for 15 wasn't working and it was a little better, but since my fasting number was so high this morning my breakfast number is really high. My 2hour number is 230. I took the novolog when I woke up and waited 15 mins and took the levemir 45mins after waking up 3u. and these are my results. :( It's so disappointing numbers over 200 make me scared.

Thank you all for your support I really do appreciate it in times like this where I feel lost and alone.

Remember you are still in the experimenting phase, denise. Keep the 2/3 for a couple days for your basal, but if you keep waking up too high you might try 3/3 or 3/2 depending on how you do during the day. Some people believe the basal has to be right before you can accurately fix the bolus. But sounds like you are on the right track with lowering your breakfast bolus to 1:13 and seeing how that works. Once you get all this fairly stable (remember it's never perfect!) then you can work on a correction factor so you don't have to start out with breakfast high and just get higher.

I was on shots until recently and splitting my long acting insulin was what worked best for me. However, when I split it, I had to up the dose quite a bit and it wasn't 50/50 either. So you will have to figure out what are the numbers that work for you.

I suggest you up your night one first(by now you probably already have)Don't eat or inject 4h before bedtime (unless u are having a low of course), test bf going to sleep and if you wake up with fairly stable numbers a coupe of days in a row great! Then you will have to fix the morning one, which affects u between meals, and guess what? long acting takes 22-24h to leave your system, it will stack with your night shot so you will have to do a 3AM test for 2-3 nights to see what is happening to your sugar while you are sleeping and maybe adjust the night one again (up or down)... eventually you will find the balance. Luckily you need so little that it won't take you as long as it took me to find my numbers (16u/night 22u/morning)
