Bone Marrow Stem Cells to Cure Type 1 Diabetes

Here's a link to a ScienceDaily article showing research from University of Missouri School of Medicine. This article was in the summer of 2013. It shows how they have a procedure to Cure Type 1 Diabetes in mice using bone marrow stem cells combined with a drug called Ig-GAD2. The bone marrow stem cells regrow the existing dead insulin islet beta cells and blood vessels around it, while the Ig-GAD2 drug prevents the immune system from re-attacking the insulin islet beta cells.
