gotta love to pinch those pennies…I haven’t had 4x espresso soy lattee in a very long time
WOW…is right !!! You are simply amazing…I very much like the almond bread and pancakes…any topping for those pancakes???
That sounds delicious !!!
Whatever topping you like. Any SF syrup will work:) Or, a couple of strawberries. Chopped pecans & maple extract added to the batter is very good.
Almond pancakes also make delicious veggie pancakes with grated vegetables added.
I eat no grains & there are healthier, low carb alternatives. Coconut flour works well, in addition to almond flour & golden flaxseed meal.
I use real cream. Soy products are highly processed & I can’t handle soy with thyroid problems.
Diabetes Chef,
Got your message about the carbs in milk. Your 8.9 is very close to mine at 9.1. Half cup of strawberries & 1 cup of cereal can’t be just an additional 3 carbs to total 11.5.
that sounds really good…did you know pecans, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, hazel nuts are are the best nutrient dense nuts you can have…great anti oxidant and many great health benefits including helping BS go down
I don’t eat pistachios. One cup has over 35 grams of carbs. I also eat Brazil nuts because they have lots of selenium.
Yes, nuts are very healthy. No food lowers BG for T1 & I’m skeptical that vinegar, cinnamon, nuts help T2s.
curious. As both you and Allan have the same effect, do you think it has anything to do with being very low carb?
Ahh. I would be SOL. Im not lactose intolerant, but actually allergic to milk. I consume cows milk and wake up with an abundance of mucus and a soar throat.
Next time I swing through VA, you got a deal! =^)
Gerri, would mind sharing that Almond flour pancake receipe? Id love to give it a whirl this weekend for the family.
I use golden flaxseed a lot in mixed forms. Its good stuff.
Have you tried unsweetened almond milk?
I’ll send it to you.
Funny I just baught some yesterday at the g-store. Its in the fridge now. =^) I used to drink rice milk, but its way high in carbs so I switched to soy still about 10c for 1 cup.
Sweet! Thanks! =^)
OMG! I missed all the party. I always suffer from Darn Phenomenon, so actually breakfast turns out to be important for me. I know that some people try to get real low carb at breakfast, but I’ve often gone for a bit higher carbs for breakfast (well relatively). One of my favorite things to do is cook up a batch of steel cut oatmeal over the weekend and then heat up a 1/2 cup for breakfast. I’ll put some cinnamon and splenda on it. That coupled with a 2-3 egg cheese omellette and I am all set.
Whats that run carb wise for you?
Under 140 at an hour is ideal. American Diabetes Association guidelines say under 180, but that is damagingly high, especially if you eat more than 3 times a day. Supposing you have 3 meals and 3 snacks, that could be up to 12 hours over 180. The American College of Endocrinology (ACE) recommendations are more strict than the ADA’s, recommending under 140 after meals.
Umm wait. Day 4, is slightly off… by a large margin
1 Thomas English Bagal – Thomas plain bagel – 49g carbs
1 tbsp peanut butter - 1 Tbsp smooth no salt-- 3.1g carbs
1 Med orange peeled - 4.9oz – 17.5g carbs
with a grand total of 69.6g of carbs. thats slightly off from 23g. Im not sure what scale your going off of but its slightly misleading. Even Thomas light bagels are still 37g which is well above 23g. I think you might want to better define your meal plan with some possible explanation.
