While Miss America may look to be the picture of perfection, Miss America 1999, Nicole Johnson, said that’s not the case. A type 1 diagnosis during college sent her life spinning for a few months, before she used what people said she couldn’t do as motivation to get back to college and eventually win the crown. It’s a remarkable story!
